Our Careteam

Jim didn’t always know he would work in the optometry field. But when his wife decided to go to optometry school, he decided to use his business degree and open up a clinic with her! Their dream became a reality, and Grandview Optometry has been serving the patients of the area ever since.

Jim was born in Chicago and raised in California. There, he received his American Board of Optometry and National Contact Lens Examiners licenses and practices in the optometry field since 2004. In 2015, he and his family moved to the Pacific Northwest where he and Dr. Cortes opened Grandview Optometry that fall.

Around the clinic, Jim likes problem-solving in order to achieve the best outcomes for the clinic’s patients. He makes it his mission to give each and every visitor to Grandview Optometry a five-star experience, every single time.

When he’s not at work, Jim enjoys working in nature, completing home-improvement projects, and spending quality time with his wife and two girls.

Receptionist / Optometry Tech

The youngest of six children, Carissa was born in Idaho. Her family moved to Washington when she was young, and settled down in Stanwood where Carissa would ultimately spend her childhood and adolescent years. The reason she chose the field of optometry is because she loves to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoys helping people.

Carissa joined the Grandview Optometry team in September of 2022. She serves the dual role of optometry technician and front desk receptionist. Her face is often the one our clients see when coming and going from the clinic. Meanwhile inside the exam room, Carissa is highly skilled and well-respected amongst her colleagues as well as our clients.

At home, Carissa is a proud single mom to some amazing children who keep her busy and active. They love spending time outdoors together, whether it’s playing sports or camping. Their family is made complete with a black lab/golden retriever mix dog named Kona who always greets them like royalty whenever they walk through the door.
